Meet your virtual double in the interactive installation Soma Mapping II !

Have you ever become part of a futuristic drawing? Soma Mapping II is rendering it possible!
Inspired by “Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2”, Marcel Duchamps famous painting, Taiwanese artist Jia-Hua Zhan developed a technique to revive the cubist idea of presenting movements in multiple dimensions and translated it into the age of digital media. Jia-Hua Zhan is this year´s stipend holder in exchange with the digital Arts Centre in Taipei. Her interactive installation is based on a double screen projection, accompanied by varying and intense sounds reacting to the presence of participants at the venue. Dynamically silhouetted against the wall, visitors are invited to actively control their virtual, larger-than-life-sized counterparts made of digital dots and lines by their movements.
After being shown at a large number of Performance Arts Festivals around the world, Soma Mapping will have its German premiere on September 22nd at the Edith-Russ-Site for Media Art/ Oldenburg.
