On the occasion of the Long Night of Museums in Oldenburg, light artist Philipp Geist presents site-specific light art projects at two locations. On the facade of the Edith-Russ-Haus and the Horst Janssen Museum, Geist develops painterly light art projections that incorporate the respective location as well as the visitors.  In the interplay of the building's fabric with the abstract, geometric video works, Philipp Geist develops a dialogue on site that connects the architecture with his artistic work.
Lighting up Times is a series that the artist has implemented at different locations. Philipp Geist creates painterly, abstract pictorial worlds on the computer that refer to organic, microscopic structures. Through its depth and three-dimensionality, the work symbolizes the ever-expanding space of time, and represents the complex networks through its complexity and density. Geometric, spatial forms such as squares, cubes, openwork surfaces, lines and rays overlap in a continuous process, building up an overall image, only to dissolve it again in the next moment. The result is a complex pictorial architecture that is constantly in flux, and pictorial compositions that are sometimes minimal-puristic, sometimes intensely colorful, dreamlike and shadowy-fragile.

Philipp Geist (1976) works worldwide as an artist with the media video/ light installation, photography and painting. In 2014, on the occasion of the German-Brazilian Year in Rio de Janeiro, he developed a coherent video installation at the world-famous Cristo Redentor statue and projected large-scale on the favela Santa Marta. On September 30/ October 01, 2014, he will implement a light art installation at the German Embassy in Prague on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall and in early September 2014 in Dessau at the Bauhaus Museum. 16.May 2013 Geist received the German Light Design Award in the category Light Art for his installation Time Drifts on the occasion of the Luminale 2012. In July/ August 2013 Geist developed an installation on the New City Hall in Bayreuth over 40 days on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Richard Wagner. Currently, his work inBetween can be seen in the group exhibition Scheinwerfer II of the Kunstmuseum Celle until October.
