Marcel Odenbach: "Going to a foreign place in order to feel at home"


Video presentation on the investigation of other cultures as an attempt at self-reflection. Marcel Odenbach (born 1953) will show videos from the past 20 years – always on the road from Europe to the USA to Africa. He is part of the “second generation” of video artists, which can be said to be characterized by a highly aesthetic effect. He uses video as an artist and surveyor of politics in order to probe Germany’s cultural identity as well as the greater picture of how the West deals with racial conflict.
