Plunderphonics - Workshop
25/26/27 April 2003, 11am - 6 pmMining social, cultural and ecological aspects of the sonic environment.
This workshop will cover different aspects of listening and understanding sound. Considering the dominance of the image in a mediated world, we will look instead at how sound has evolved in parallel with visual media and defined itself outside normal assistive roles.
"We will look at how sound can be a powerful evocative agent by investigating radio plays, soundscapes, sample culture and synthetic generation. Different recording techniques will be covered along with investigations of several sound artist's work. A short lecture and discussion will precede the workshop. Participants should come with an idea for a small project that they would like to produce with sound."
