Kirsten Geisler: "Fake - Life in artificial worlds"
Fakes, icons and virtuality are key words that describe Kirsten Geisler's investigation of life in artificial worlds and the availability of such worlds through advertising and the media. This is the subject of Geisler's practical workshop at the Edith Russ Site for Media Art and in cooperation with Oldenburg's Carl von Ossietzky University.
The workshop will begin with a theoretical discourse on the 'Realm of media-generated Illusions'. The second phase of the workshop will have the participants work on their individual projects under the guidance of Kristen Geisler. hile they begin the practical work on each of their projects. No special knowledge and experience with hardware of software are necessary. The work shall be conducted in an interdisciplinary manner and students may choose which materials and mediums they would like to use.
The workshop is free of charge. The Edith Russ Site for Media Art has a limited number of apartments available for workshop participants. To register for the workshop please contact the Edith Russ Site and send a short curriculum vitae. Twelve participants may register.
