Avi Mograbi presents his more important films in the tradition of a classic film festival. Naturally, the 2002 Berlinale Peace Prize winner will be in Oldenburg for a public discussion. On his search for the everyday within the conflicts in the Middle East, Mograbis work mixes the fictional and subjective with the genre of the documentary film. This Long Night is the kick off for an exhibition in the cinematic style of a independent movie theater.
For the exhibition, the Edith Russ Site for Media Art dedicates this artists a retrospective in a combination exhibition and film festival. Mograbis work asks how different social environments determine varying filmic approaches and how the fake and playing with reality can act as both an aesthetic and a political practice.
